It’s the most spook-tacular time of the year! This Friday, September 22 marks the first day of the fall season. Since we don’t get much of a winter here in Central Texas, I live for those cool autumn days. We won’t be feeling the temps for a while but that hasn’t stopped me from at least getting excited about it. Stores are starting to put out their Thanksgiving decorations, restaurants are bringing out their fall drinks/foods and Different Dimension is releasing their Halloween trio at Polish Con on September 23. Perfect timing!
The Creepin’ It Real trio will make its debut at Polish Con and then on Different Dimension’s site on October 2nd at 9am EDT. You can buy them individually for $12 or as a set for $30 and the set will include a candy corn scented cuticle oil pen.
Let’s get to swatching, witches!
Boo Felicia is an orange linear holo with silver and holographic micro flakies. The name alone was enough to sell me on it. I used 2 coats and a swipe of QDTC for my pictures. I also compared it to last year’s Halloween polish so that you can see the difference between the two. It’s more noticeable on your nails than it is from the bottles. And All I Loved, I Loved Alone has holo flakies in an orange jelly base, so they might stand out a little more in that one. In Boo Felicia, the flakies are joined with lots of holo.
Next up is Here For The Boos, a holographic based polish with orange and black holo micro glitters. This one screams Halloween to me. It’s also the one I had the most fun taking pictures of!
Because this one has a holographic base and no pigment, you’ll either need to apply more coats or sponge it on if you want full opacity. For polishes like this, I like to apply a thin coat to get a base layer down and then I follow up with 2 regular coats. I sealed it in with a QDTC and put some light stamping on top that wouldn’t cover it up too much. I only used one layer of top coat but depending on your preference you’ll want to apply one more because it was still a little textured.
Now, I need to admit that I’m a little biased when it comes to how much I love this last polish. One of my favorite Halloween movies is Hocus Pocus and I’ve always had an unsettling obsession with the Wizard of Oz, because of the Wicked Witch of the West. Then when I got older I came across Wicked the Musical and now I adore Elphaba! I’ve dressed up as a witch for Halloween more times than I can count and I even managed to dig up some proof for you all. 😀
So without further ado, I give you Basic Witch. It’s a black linear holo with silver and holo flakies! It shines as bright as the glare on my cauldron and I. Am. In. Love!!!
For my swatches I applied 3 thin coats and one layer of QDTC. It only seemed appropriate that I do some sort of witch inspired nail art on top. So I dug out the best green I had and went to work. I didn’t want to cover it up too much because this polish is the epitome of all things witchy and it’s anything BUT basic! It’s also the most versatile in the trio. Depending on the occasion I might still reach for the orange or glitter after the holidays are over, but this classic black will stand the test of time and be used long after Halloween is gone.
Now, all those feeling like the Wicked Witch of The West after seeing these polishes, say “aye.”
